Summary/Abstract: After the September 11 attacks, the USA intervened in Afghanistan in October 2001 in order to eliminate "international terrorism" that gave the US-Government an opportunity to settle down in Central Asia. After intervening in Afghanistan, the USA established military bases in Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, which bothered Russia and China. Consequently it has started a new power struggle among USA, Russia and China. In this article, it will be examined, that this process in Central Asia has fuelled a new conflict between the great powers. Within the framework of neo-realist theory it will be analysed whether this process can be considered as a starting point of a new great game.
