Summary/Abstract: After nearly 119 years since the first edition of The Holy Cross Sermons which were discovered by Aleksander Brückner on 25th March 1890 in a manuscript from a non-existent today, burned during the war in Warsaw of former Imperial Public Library in Petersburg, after 76 years since the Jan Łoś’s and Władysław Semkowicz’s edition and many later publications, numerous analysis and reviews, there appeared, thanks to National Library, a new edition of The Holy Cross Sermons and their new interpretation preceded by a rich commentary and a new analytical look. The article presents the contents of 8 articles which are the commentary to the new edition, a trial of a new look on the genesis and transmission of Sermons. The author polemizes with certain agreements, confronts the achievements of western sermonistic research, in particular the David L. d’Avray’s and Nicole Bériou’s on sermons’ transmission with a technique of reportatio and the phenomena of bilingual sermons in the context of genesis of The Holy Cross Sermons as bilingual. If The Holy Cross Sermons are a copy’s copy, what is suggested by W. Wydra, it is perhaps an example of reportation which belongs to the second, stood out by N. Bériou group of fair-copy reportation i.e. to the transcript of first draft reportation with further editorial changes.
