Assessment of effectiveness of environmental management system in accordance with ISO 14001 in enterprises of the Lublin voivodeship

Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the analysis of effectiveness of the Environmental Management System in enterprises. In the first part of the analysis the author describes theoretical aspects of the Environmental Management System in accordance with ISO 14001, as described in the literature. Then an attempt is made to analyze the economic effectiveness of the Environmental Management System implemented in enterprises operating in various branches of economy on the territory of the Lublin Voivodeship, based on the author’s own survey. On the basis of estimated costs and benefits generated by EMS, it has been indicated that the EMS implementation in the companies surveyed is an undertaking which is considered economically effective.
