Johannes Honterus and "Huministic Astronomy"

Summary/Abstract: The first part of Honterus' Cosmography contains astronomical remarks that have been little studied up to now. Even though both the first and the second edition from 1530 and 1541/42 are based on the same geocentric world view, there can be detected fundamental changes in the presentation. These changes make it possible to trace the development of Honterus from a medieval thinker to a humanist in exemplary manner.
