Summary/Abstract: The changes which have taken place in Poland in recent years are particularly visible in the areas of the social and economic life of her citizens. These changes affect mainly family, and not always are regarded as positive. Family often is not able to acclimatize with the new reality, especially to orient in the maze of legal regulations. The author studies the duties of the state and its structure in assisting the basic cell of society. On the other hand, he stresses that it is not possible to create and consolidate a modern state without the profamily policies, because only family equipped with powers, like that of education, can create the best climate for the development of society. From such assumptions the author draws conclusive tasks for the administration of Poland and the European Union.
