Summary/Abstract: In their autobiographic works published at the end of the 20th century, contemporary Polish women writers depicted lives of new immigrants struggling with the everyday reality of their new countries, and with the formation of their social identities as women and citizens of new countries and cultures. Literary works by Eva Hoffman, Eva Stachniak, Brygida Helbig, and Manuela Gretkowska provided examples for presented in this article critical reflection on the construction of the post-migrant identities, a description of difficulties of the first year of life in the new countries and an analysis of intellectual traditions chosen by consecutive waves of postwar Polish im/migrant women writers.
