Guild-emblems and guild-symbols in Transylvania

Summary/Abstract: Presents a short abstract of a PhD-theses the author is writing. The emblems and symbols of guilds in Transylvania are analysed and compared with those of other european regions, especially Germany for the 14 to 19th, but especially the 14th to 16th century. An import aspect of the history of transylvanian guildes are journeyman. There can be observed similarities of emblems and symbols used in Transylvania and Germany. The similarities help us to understand the state of the art (history of technology, development of tools) of transylvanian artisans.
