Justification Of Criticism Of Globalization From The Nation-State Perspective

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to discuss the credibility of criticism ofglobalization from the point of view of the nation-state. The mainbody of this paper consists of three sections. The first section analyses criticism of the political aspect of globalization; the second givesspecial attention to criticism of the economic aspect of globalization; the third deals with criticism of cultural globalization. The initialhypothesis is that globalization is characterized, often unfairly, as atrend which has negative consequences for the nature of the nation-state. This paper is intended as a response to criticisms from authorsclaiming that globalization reduces state sovereignty, is an instru-ment of the new economic imperialism, and that the very act of glob-alization amounts to standardization and cultural homogenization.
