Technology or Home Economics - the Subject's Development and Perspective

Summary/Abstract: Economical situation, historically settled customs and traditions of society and culture have influenced introduction of the technology education into school curriculum. The concept of the technology has been changed lately. Instead of rooting the technology concept from the engineering, nowwe understand "technology" not only as a process of production, manufacturing, but also as a mean of information and communication. There are two subjects in the national curricula of various countries - Home economics and Technologies. The article describes the historical background and development of the subject, presents the comparative analysis of the content and the goals of the subjects with the special view on the ethnical and economical aspects in different countries.
