Summary/Abstract: This paper aims at defining, through some novels belonging to Michel Houellebecq, the characteristics of the hero as a bureaucrate always trying to escape the dehumanizing everyday routine. It also wants to underline the obsession of redifining each different event in order to conclude that the existence of the individual as a prisoner between function and fiction is absurd.
