Older man and his family in turbulent times. Remarks on the margin of the discussion about social services

Summary/Abstract: In this article the author focuses on several issues decisive for social functioning of seniors in family relations, e.g. household structure, economic situation, the main social roles available to elderly. In view of contemporary social transformations one can raise the questions: Is changing family able to ensure quality of life for older generations? What are the changes in the family? What are the implications of these changes for older people? What concept of the family should social policy addressing this category refer to?
