Summary/Abstract: The crisis of welfare state has changed a model of functioning of social care. One of its elements is the transfer of responsibility for the growing category of dependent (disabled) people from professional institutions to their relatives. In this way there is crystallized the category of informal care providers (caregivers), which itself requires some support to effectively fulfill received duties. In the presented work there are discussed two questions: the impact of obligation of caregiving on the functioning of households and demand for services supporting the implementation of caregiving by the families. There are presented data analyses and outcomes from research made on the households dealing with depended family members in 2010 in Wrocław.
