Summary/Abstract: The intention of this paper is to analyze the project of the foreign prince, an accomplished aim of the Romanian political elite, in 1866. During the first half of the nineteenth century the idea of the foreign prince has signified a fundamental goal for the local elite. In May 1866, this goal come to be a certainty, by the arrival of Charles of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen on the throne of Romania, ensuring intern political stability and strengthening the Romanian state.
