History of Lithuania’s Seimas

Summary/Abstract: A. Veilentienė reviewed a collective monograph by D. Blažytė-Baužienė, M. Tamošaitis and L. Truska „History of Lithuania‘s Seimas“, published in 2009. According to the reviewer, this is the first attempt, made by historians, to consistently review the history of Lithuania‘s Seimas of modern times, the beginning of which goes back to December 4–5, 1905 (the Great Seimas of Vilnius) and ends with the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania of 2004–2008. The monograph “History of Lithuania’s Seimas” is the first comprehensive study of modern parliamentarian history, which, hopefully, might encourage more detailed researches of the history of parliamentary system.
