Summary/Abstract: A considerable part of the scientific heritage of G.V. Ksenofontov, a well-known Siberian social anthropologist and folklore specialist is devoted to the narratives about one of the legendary progenitors of the Yakuts – Elley. G.V. Ksenofontov, exploring the rich folklore and historical material about Elley, collected by him, drew attention to the presence in this cycle of legends of the genetic parallels with the myths and legends of the Turkic- speaking ethnic groups of medieval Asia, which is confirmed by the modern researchers.
