Summary/Abstract: Matrimony and Family from the Adventist–Millennarian Perspective. An Orthodox Assessment. Adventist-millennarian groups are characterized by the fervent expectation of the Parousia, whose imminence has already become one of their fundamental doctrinal tenets, after the well-known failures of their so-called biblical calculations for the end of the world. The circumspect reconsideration of their eschatological positions, with their excess of unfounded prophecies and awkward exegeses, has not caused any lessening of the interest in the millennial kingdom, but has even enhanced it to a certain extent. This is visibly reflected by group relationships. The members of the respectives groups socialize among themselves, in a quasi-sectarian manner, and regard family life not as a joint effort towards theosis, but as a preamble of the delights promises to the earthly millennial kingdom. Hence their proselytist success: this modus vivendi fully agrees with the delusions of late modernity hedonism: consumerism, egalitarianism, and, above all, individualism. And, despite their efforts to evince great religiosity, shifting between their pristine „prayer houses” or „halls” and the visits to people they attempt to gain as new adherents, they have already fallen into a kind of secular conformism, promoting ceremony at the expense of the Sacrament, formulaic discourse instead of the Holy Spirit’s words, servility towards earthly pleasures instead of the abyss of the „Church of glory”...
