Summary/Abstract: In comparison with loan-words of another languages, the number of Polonisms in Hungarian is relatively insignificant (34 words). A vast majority of them belong to standard Hungarian. Half of them are obsolete or archaic words. Nearly all of the above- mentioned words are substantives. The majority of the Polish loan-words were adopted in the 16th and/or 17th century. In the case of one-third of the words, the century of adaptation is unknown. Polonisms fundamentally belong to the following areas: <a house of man>, <man in society>, <man and the state organization> and <the work of man>.
