Summary/Abstract: This text highlights the authors’ courage to step onto thin interpretational ice and to spoil the picture of “national luminaries”. On the other hand it warns against the consequences of reducing the history of the Jews to a history of antisemitism, as well as the problematic nature of defining antisemitism as the propagation of hatred.
