Station EXPO-67 – The ŠtB at the Montreal world´s fair

Summary/Abstract: For the State Security (ŠtB), the EXPO World’s Fair aff orded a welcome opportunity to send their offi cers abroad. From the intelligence perspective, the key factor was that the majority of world’s fairs took place in Western states. The following paper examines the reasons for the creation of a specific station at the EXPO-67 World’s Fair, how it developed and the tasks undertaken. It provides an overview of personnel composition and outlines how ŠtB offi cers were made legal.
