Philosophic Parameters of the Chinese Concept “The National Idea”. Genesis of the Chinese National Idea

Summary/Abstract: The present article concerns problems of the Chinese conceptions „national idea“; „national sense“; „national mission“; „nationality“, tracing out their origin and their manifestation in the Chinese historic and philosophic space. In first part of the present research the stress lays on Chinese interpretation of concept „an idea“, „a national idea“. At the same time it comes to light their genesis and the earliest forms of a growth. The basic conceptions of Chinese philosophy, like „Zhong yong“, „Dao“, „De“, „Li“, „Ren“, „Cheng“, comes up for discussion consistent with the context of the examining problems. While revealing their meaning in the old Chinese language, the paper gives prominence to their connection with the term „an idea“, on the one hand, and the term „ a nation“, on the other hand. In the Second part of the present paper the accent put on the role of the traditional Chinese culture in the process of taking shape and developing of the „national idea“; allude to Confucius philosophy as a personification of the common Chinese „national idea“, as a metaphor of the more than five thousandyear old Chinese Civilization, as a label of whole of Chinese nation. The Third part of the present study examines the modern interpretation of the concepts „national idea“ and „national sense“ as a cardinal motive power in the course of building up of the Chinese national culture. In the foreground comes the economic and political might of the present-day China as a „global colossus“ at the world stage and as the „new super power“, due to the capable affairs of state, totally in a state of subordination of the Chinese national interest as a result of the realization of the national idea.
