Summary/Abstract: György Enyedi was one of the social scientists, who made the most essential statements on processes taking place in rural areas. He dealt with problems of the countryside, with the regional dissection of agriculture, with village grading in the early years of his carreer, later his scientific interest turned towards town development, and studying of urbanization cycles. The present paper commemorates research in the first period.
