Regional Political Parties and Citizens' Pro-European Orientation: Case Study of Istria

Summary/Abstract: Results of the public opinion inquiry about the orientation of Croatian citizens towards the EU which is since year 2001 regularly conducted by the Ministry for European Integration (MEI) twice a year, show that the orientation of the citizens of Croatia in favor or against accession to the EU constantly changes, but also that it substantially differ within particular statistical units, i.e. Croatian regions, that is counties. Quantitative comparison and statistical analysis, for all eight public opinion inquires in totally six Croatian statistical units, indicate that Istra and Primorje-Gorski Kotar Counties declared in the observed period, from year 2001 to 2004, in average the highest degree of Euroskeptical orientation of their citizens…
