Agriculture in Slovakia - a Forced Re-Structuring?

Summary/Abstract: In Slovakia, four groups of issues influence the ongoing agrarian transition. They can be briefly reviewed as: - Changes in land ownership and land use patterns. - Developments in the economic position of farming. - Social attitudes towards re-structuring farming schemes. - Generation of social roles in private agricultural business. Our aim is to present some facts and ideas about this process, to give information and possibly to provide a base of knowledge which could be useful for comparing and generalizing transitional issues in Central and Eastern European countries.
