The Church – Urban Dynamic Indicator of Galaţi Town

Summary/Abstract: The issue points out and deals with the value as the bench-mark indicator of the church in clearing up the landscape’s dynamic at the micro territorial level. The church’s positional and functional criteria, applied for the Galati city, make oneself conspicuous the urban dynamic, in its own three forms: territorial, economic and socio-cultural. The Galati city displays essentially, at small scale, the translations produced at spatial relations developed by church along the last century Romanian urban evolution, by bonding to an old downtown, symbolically limited to the Precista church-monument, of two territorial broadenings of its own recent history: the town’s valley (former slum quarter Bădălan with two churches without parish) and the new residential neighborhood Dimitrie Cantemir, the contemporary example of the parish without church.
