Summary/Abstract: Forms of address belong to the lexicon that is difficult to translate, as they are speciflc for every nation and usually do not have exact equivalents in other languages. The aim of the article is to disclose with the helpof contrastive method the ways Old Polish forms of address have been translated in the recent Lithuanian translation of "Pan Tadeusz" by A. Mickiewicz, done by V. Mykolaitis-Putinas and J. Marcinkevičius. The article discusses different translation techniques deployed by the translators: the usage of the functional lexical equivalents ponas, tamsta, jūs, the deployment of morphological devices, omission, as well as evaluates how close pragmatically they are to the original.
