Summary/Abstract: Political changes often have an influence on the culture of countries involved in the transformation process. After the fall of communism such situation occurred in Poland – almost all cultural contacts between this country and Russia have been suspended. The connection was re-established at the end of the last ecade of the 20th century. Once it happened, Polish publishers started to promote modern prose from former Soviet Union and soon it became well-known. Young Russian SF&F authors and their works were one of the main beneficiaries. After the turn of the century, we could observe in Poland an explosion of great popularity of modern SF&F literature written in Russia. We present and exemplify this phenomenon with articles published in the daily newspaper “Gazeta Wyborcza” and the weekly magazine “Polityka” (both can be placed among the most influential opinion-forming newspapers in Poland).
