Summary/Abstract: This paper deals with the historical development of the Roman tort of iniuria. It focuses mainly on procedural aspects – namely the actio iniuriarum, examining in particular the protection provided in The Law of XII Tables and the old writs (legisactiones) of the archaic Roman Law. The paper follows s the changes brought about by the process seater and ius honorarium and it deals with the protection of the honor of the Roman civilians at the time of deep and very fast social changes at the end of the Roman Republic, which was brought by the Criminal Law – namely the lex Cornelia de iniuriis. Finally, the article also deals with links to the ancient Roman iniurie of honor in medieval ius commune.
