Summary/Abstract: In spite of the fact there are many superficially similar definitions of the private benefits of control in the finance literature, in many cases they are fundamentally different. The main purpose of the paper is the analysis of the definitions and sources and the presenta¬tion of the nature of private benefits of control in the context of the typologies proposed by other researchers.
