Division of the European Union countries by diversity of factors creating an investment climate

Summary/Abstract: The increasing value of the annual flows of foreign direct investment and the stock of FDI in the world, are playing a more and more significant role in the global economy. Over the time FDI was seen not only as a transfer of capital, but also as a complex of factors strongly affecting the qualitative changes in the economy. Today, all states conduct an active policy aimed at attracting FDI, because traditional location determinants are losing importance in the rapidly developing process of globalization. This article presents the determinants that create the contemporary investment climate for foreign investors and attempts to divide countries of the European Union into groups characterized by a similar investment climate using multivariate analysis.
