Summary/Abstract: The application of the virtues doctrine on the Christian spiritual life, requires first of all, to identify the way Christianity influenced and transformed the general conception about virtues. If, in general, the virtues are considered to be the result of human effort in compliance with moral law (acquired virtues), Christian doctrine defines the virtues as gifts of the Holy Spirit and through collaboration with the human will end up being revealed as a true divine gifts. Therefore, in the Christian conception, virtues are considered to be a divine force that penetrates the lives and who have three specific characteristics: a virtue is spiritual, supernatural and profoundly human.
