Summary/Abstract: Yoga has become popular in Poland and today nearly 30 thousand students practice regularly. Since 1995 there is increasingly growing number of yoga schools. The main task of this paper was to answer the question about the actual profile of instructors and teachers who are giving the yoga classes at the end of 2005. Authors have analyzed and evaluated information about teachers (n = 135) from 56 yoga schools presented in www yoga portal. The research material was divided two main groups, informative and qualitative data. Since 1995 there has been a regularly growing number of yoga teachers in Poland, they work usually in big cities and most of them follow the Iyengar tradition. Most of them are 30–40 years old, 56% of teachers are women. They work in rather small (1–2 teachers) schools and the same number of the classes (usually 5–10 hours per week) they address to specific groups (women, kids). Nearly 70% of them don’t present their basic qualifications and about 60% don’t mention specific yoga qualifications. Yoga teaching in Poland is too often limited only to recreational level and it is far too little for those who wish and long for a deeper insight. Different traditions of yoga available today need authentication based on classical yoga scriptures and living traditions. This is why yoga teachers need to be prepared to answer questions related to biological aspects of yoga practice as well as to philosophical or psychological ones.
