Summary/Abstract: The text deals with applications of the philosophy of upbringing and educating Roma students. Relying on approaches adopted by contemporary prominent educationalists (Jan Průcha in the Czech Republic and Miron Zelina in the Slovak Republic), who bring certain theoretical solutions into the pedagogic system that was close to philosophical approaches to education at the time. However, let us focus primarily on the role of historic sources on the philosophy of education. For this reason, as a means of dealing with the whole system of other philosophical and educational issues concerning Roma students, we use the ideas of a Czech philosopher Jan Patočka. Deriving from his educational philosophy, we focus on the issue of the teacher’s “struggle” for humanization of students.
