Summary/Abstract: Since the old times, Balkans have an important place for Turks. Settlement of the Turks in the Balkans started by Huns, and then continued by the Ottoman Turks. The Ottoman Empire followed a systematical settlement policy in the Balkans. Before the Ottoman conquests, many dervishes had come to the region. The dervishes played an important role at Turkification of the region. The most popular of them are Sarı Saltık, Otman Baba, Akyazili Sultan and Demir Baba. The tekke of Demir Baba is dated to XVIth century and located in the village of Svestari, in Razgrad, in Northern Bulgaria. This article aims to give information about Demir Baba who lived in Northern Bulgaria in Ottoman period and his tekke.
