The Role of the Caritas in Italian Immigration Services

Summary/Abstract: The Caritas, whose vocation is to work with the so-called “ultimi” – the lowest rung of the ladder – pays particular attention to immigrants, either by offering direct assistance in educating Italian citizens, but also in political policy when the lack is traceable to institutions. The organisation is therefore active at a number of levels. The artricles describes the new field of activity of the Italian Caritas organisation regarding the new phenomenon of high rate immigration to Italy.
