Financing the warranty insurance schemes

Summary/Abstract: The warranty insurance schemes provide a protection to the persons insured from the highest and last instance, when the other mechanisms, such as the internal risk management and the strict supervision framework, are not activated. The normal functioning of any warranty insurance scheme requires making expenses. Therefore the main purpose of this presentation is to outline the problems related to the financing of those schemes and offering ways to overcome them. In relation to Bulgaria's membership in the European Union, a review of the European practice is made in this regard. The following topics in the work are discussed: the different sou­rces of financing; the method and the basis on which the calculation of in­stallments is made; the financial re­stri­ctions of the various schemes. The tre­nds for the development of our war­ranty insurance scheme are outlined.
