COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF NATIONAL QUALITY AWARDS AND THEIR ROLE IN ENTERPRISES AND ECONOMY COMPETITIVENESS IMPROVEMENT

Summary/Abstract: There has been intensive development of modern performance measurement systems during last decades. These systems emerged as a result of inability of traditional systems to satisfy the needs of firms and to respond to challenges in a field of management, control and strategy implementation, present in a today's business. The application of modern frameworks for performance measurement, that use several dimensions and a number of measures, is promoted in economies in order to improve firm performances and competitiveness of the economy as a whole. This is achieved through the establishment and developement of national and regional quality and business excellence awards. This paper deals with the most famous awards, such as: European Quality Award, Baldrige American National Award, Deming Prize, Japan Quality Award, and also Oscar of Quality– the award for quality and business excellenceries.
