Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present a critical take on the common usage of populism in the social scientific discourse. In particular, it argues against normative, pathologizing, and chaotic notion of populism. Instead, it makes the case for using populism as an analytical category and offers such a notion of populism. The author makes his argument by using his case study of a ‘populist strategy’ of an NGO that managed to challenge the hegemonic discursive construction of socio-economic governance based on foreign direct investment attracting in the Czech Republic.
