The Alliance in the making. Which is NATO’s reason of being and what sort of mechanisms does it have at its disposal?

Summary/Abstract: Admiral Dufourcq article critically analyzes the current capacity of NATO, the organisation resulting from the Washigton Treaty, to adapt to global geo-strategic framework of XXI century. This framework is completely changed compared to that in which it appeared the NATO from the Yalta order. In the new geopolitical framework and in the new developing world order the role of Atlantic actors decreases. In this context, the proposal of author is the rebuilding of Alliance based on Euro-American Strategic Partnership between the US and European Union that is open to other actors from Atlantic and Eurasian areas.
