Summary/Abstract: The leitmotif of the present article in its too parts (and of the more extended investigation it figures in) is that people — not only those belonging to different ethne, but people sharing one and the same culture as well, do not share a common ratio. The rationality of every one is unique and this predetermines all attempts at understanding the other. The theme is furthered in discussions about the ratio of the differently orientated individuals of the present-day society, about rationality as a component of the character, of the personal traits of a particular individual, which rationality the respective individual expands from the ontology of his/her situation in the world to a means (the basic and most reliable means) of judging about the others. Mention is also made of the fact that the ratio is of utmost importance only in the European (and the stemming from it) cultural context. The Indians, for example, from ancient times on have bestowed on dharma the same culture-building role as that the ratio for the Europeans. Is the relativization of the ratio the way for understanding the other?
