(Non)-present structure. A contribution to the discussion on methods of searching for non-exponential meanings

Summary/Abstract: The article is an attempt to demonstrate the drawbacks resulting from lack of methodological cooperation between semantics and pragmatics in seeking the nature of verbal communication, on the example of uncritical adoption of the relevance theory to the analysis of obligatory systemic undercoding named the linguistic undeterminancy phenomenon by the pragmatists. The final conclusion of the paper is that the effectiveness of these studies depends entirely on consistence in keeping the assumption put forward by the theory of semantic syntax, that the grammar of forms is the representation of the semantic domain (grammar of concept).
