Summary/Abstract: In the article the discussion of 1960s and the history of the first edition of A. A. Zimin's book on the Igor' Tale are analysed on the basis of new archive materials. Academician D. S. Likhachev's position in the discussion is examined. The author adduces fragments of shorthand reports of the discussion on A. A. Zimin's book and extracts from letters. The historiography of the question is also analysed. The author criticizes the hypothesis of A. A. Zimin and defends the authenticity of the Igor' Tale.
