Summary/Abstract: Post-World War II pecuniary reparations were a normal consequence of acts committed by the Axis states in violation of inter national law—launching a war of aggression. In terms of inter national law, the codification work of the UN International Law Commission, especially reports by Doudou Thiam on codification of crimes against peace, mankind and war crimes which followed the Charter of the Inter national Military Tribunal in classifying certain acts as objects of inter national legal regulation, may once again be helpful in assessing this situation.
