Summary/Abstract: This article describes a case of allomorphy in the Friulian conservative varieties spoken in the Lower Valley of Gorto. In the dialects of this alpine valley masculine nouns belonging to Class I whose stem-final non-sibilant consonant is elided do not display the unmarked Class I plural morpheme (that is [s]), but the postalveolar sibilant [ʃ].
