Summary/Abstract: Even though, nowadays, English terms have become internationalisms, medical terminology is still built on Greco-Latin word parts. The present article surveys the Greco-Latin roots in medical language, with special reference to cardiovascular terminology. The roots are analysed in terms of meaning and etymology. The resulting list is completed with examples of words containing the considered roots.
