Summary/Abstract: In all the member countries of the EU-27 demographic changes have occurred. These dramatic changes have occurred in the past decades and as a result family as we know it has gone through interesting changes. The relationship between the family and public policy has changed, is changing or should be changed as a result of the new context. This paper will try to focus on trends that can be seen at both the level of the EU-27 and at the national level. Traditional family norms are gradually being replaced by new realities.
