Summary/Abstract: After the Bulgarian Ethnographic Institute and Museum at the the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences had, in a comparatively short time, published a three-volume and a one-volume "Ethnography of Bulgaria", the question of writing a ten-volume "Ethnography of Bulgaria" is now under consideration. The first volume will be devoted to certain general questions, and the last two to the ethnographic problems of the Bulgarian town and of our present. The remaining seven volumes will deal with the traditional folk culture: three of them with the material (the Bulgarian's place of life, means of livelihood and material existence), three with spiritual culture (the world outlook, cultural existence and folk art) and one with the traditional social-normative culture. All the ethnographers in Bulgaria, who possess the necessary scholarly qualifications will take part in this ten-volume publication along with scholars of related disciplines. The whole group of authors will be dealing with a scientific programme. It will work according to an established draft and will be guided by an editorial board. The individual volumes will have their own editorial boards. This multiple-volume publication will be illustrated, supplied with ethnic and ethnographic maps, references and indexes: geographical, name, linguistic, etc. Each volume will include several sections of several chapters each, divided into headings and subheadings. Its total volume will amount to 50 publisher's sheets or 1000 printed pages and other materials. Work on preparing these ten volumes is to begin in the present five-year period (1986 — 1991) and will continue to the end of the century, and also later.
