Summary/Abstract: The present paper aims at highlighting Rodica Botoman’s contribution to the study of the Romanian language at the Ohio State University. The leading section refers to the inceptions of the Romanian Studies in the United States of America, starting with 1967. The main section elaborates on the significant role Rodica Botoman played in the development of Romanian Studies in the US by initiating a course on Romanian language and culture which ultimately became a secondary field of study. The paper ends by concluding that the success of the Romanian Studies at the Ohio State University is due to Botoman’s intercultural approach and the university’s collaboration with Romanian institutions and philologists.
