THE ROLE OF AUSTRIA-HUNGARY FOR ORGANIZING INSTITUTIONS OF ISLAM IN ALBANIA IN 1916-1918 YEARS

Summary/Abstract: This article has as objective analysis of the policy followed by Austria-Hungary to the formation of the Islamic religion in the years 1916-1918. Though the empire was a multi-ethnic state-confessional, it was officially a Catholic theocratic state and depending on the geo-political interests pursued a specific policy towards the Muslim population of Albania. This policy we generally positive results, despite the unfavorable cases that occasionally there were, this is best shown by the fact that the Islamic community institutions in this period has witnessed a rapid development in terms of organizational practiced.
