Summary/Abstract: With Turkey’s role growing in the international arena, the country seeks the leadership role among Arab states and wants to extend its influence into the Balkans. Not just engaging in mediations, it now does not shrink from firm action, either. Those new vectors of Turkey’s foreign policy provoke a number of questions. Is Turkey still interested in integration with the European Union? Or perhaps it gave up the idea of EU membership? Who is to blame for a slowdown in the integration process: Turkey or the EU? Are we witnessing a new path being mapped out by politicians from the Justice and Development Party?
