Summary/Abstract: The clause rebus sic standibus is invoked in the context of an analysis of the transformation effects regarding the territorial structure of state, with a special sending to the applicability of treaties. For this reason it is shown that territorial losses may consider unpredictable actions that generally result in an important change of the conditions that existed in the times the treaty was concluded. Thus, an important territorial loss may liberate the state that suffered it from certain contractual obligations.
